Four-step verification workflow
- Navigate independently to the official laboratory domain.
- Compare the laboratory's digital record with the document supplied by the seller.
- Compare identity, weight, measurements, comments, treatment findings, report date, and any photograph or inscription, allowing for documented measurement tolerances and later work.
- If information appears inconsistent, pause the transaction or avoid altering the item and ask the issuing laboratory or an independent qualified gemologist for guidance.
What a report does not prove
Confirming a digital record does not prove that the seller owns the stone, that the current physical stone is the one examined, that its condition is unchanged, or that it has a particular value, provenance, chain of custody, or ethical history. An appraisal is a separate assignment prepared for a stated purpose; ask your insurer what documentation it requires.
